Linked to the city station through the air quality data management center, the public display panel displays air quality information that are updated on regular basis.
The PDP (Public Display Panel) displays the following parameters along with their measurement units, their current level of measurement in ambient air, the information level and the alert level for each parameter:
1.     Sulfur dioxide (SO2)
2.
    Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
3.
    Carbon monoxide (CO)
4.
    Ground-level ozone (O3)
5.
    Volatile organic compounds (VOC’s)
6.
    Particulates (PM10)

Local time and temperature are also displayed on the right upper corner of the panel alternatively.

How to read and interpret the Public Display Panel   (PDP)?

The Color Index:

The color index is used as a simple and user friendly indicator that can be easily interpreted by the public. Located at the left column of the display panel, color indicators of air quality are displayed to indicate the status of air quality as follows:

  • Green color: Indicates Good Air Quality.
  • Orange color: Indicates Moderate Air Quality.
  • Red color: Indicates Poor Air Quality (outdoor activities should be avoided by children and people with respiratory health problems; asthmatic) .
What are the current level, information level and alert level; and their relation with the color index?
  • Current level: Indicates the level of measurement at that moment
  •  Information level:  Indicates the Jordanian ambient air quality standards
  •  Alert level: Indicates the threshold for the health impacts

The color changes automatically according to the current measurement compared with both quality standard and alert level as follows:

  • When the current level is below the information level, the green color will be displayed, indicating good air quality.

  • When the current measurement lies between the information level and the alert level, the orange color will be displayed, indicating moderate air quality.

  • When the current measurement is above the alert level, red colour will be displayed, indicating poor air quality .
